March 2025 Newsletter - Dosu Knows

Hello everyone!
Welcome back to the second edition of Dosu’s monthly newsletter. In case you missed our last newsletter, you can find it (and future newsletters) on our blog.
So what has the Dosu team been up to this past month? Let’s get into it.
📈 Over 40k Installations
While this technically isn’t a feature we shipped, surpassing 40,000 installations is a milestone worth celebrating! It’s the culmination of many small features and hard-work from the Dosu team, and all of the love and support from the Dosu community over the past year.
💽 Self-Serve Slack & Confluence Data Sources
We’ve launched self-service for our two most requested data source integrations: Slack and Confluence.
💬 Slack
Slack is arguably the most important source of information for modern product and engineering teams yet it’s also one of the most noisy and difficult to sift through. Now Dosu will dig through old Slack threads for you, connecting the dots between conversations and code.
All you need to do is add a Slack channel as a data source to your Space.
📄 Confluence
Oh Confluence. There is much to say about Confluence, but we’ll reserve that for a future newsletter 😁.
Confluence is the common source for internal documentation at larger companies. Documentation—like Slack—provides higher-level product context to Dosu that is harder to capture from code alone.
If you are one of the people patiently waiting for this integration, wait no more. Check it out today.
And speaking of documentation…
📚 A Living Knowledge Base
We are excited to announce early access to a new self-generating, self-maintaining internal knowledge base product code-named Dosu Knows.
Everyone deserves docs, but right now the effort to write and maintain them is too high for fast moving teams.
Dosu Knows automatically discovers and distills the key topics, concepts, and facts directly from your code, commits, conversations, and tickets. These topics and facts stay in-sync as your product evolves, enabling documentation that never goes stale and dynamically adapts to different audiences.
The vision for Dosu Knows is to make comprehensive, up-to-date docs the norm rather than the exception.
If you’re interested in getting early access, please sign up here and we’ll reach out!
⚖️ Fact-Based Reasoning Agent
The launch of Dosu Knows goes hand-in-hand with a new Agent architecture centered around fact-based reasoning.
Now when Dosu needs to solve a problem, it starts by taking stock of what it already knows. If it has all the information it needs, it can respond immediately. If it doesn’t, Dosu does research to find missing facts and remembers them for next time. As the knowledge base grows, so does its speed and performance.
Sounds cool? It is. It also has a many advantages over the existing agent, such as
- Improved introspection: You can clearly see what Dosu’s goals were, what assumptions it made, and how it interpreted the sources it’s citing. This visibility means more opportunities to understand the behavior of the Agent and to give actionable feedback when it makes mistakes.
- Big-picture understanding: By using a knowledge-base structured around topics and concepts, Dosu should perform better when answering questions that require higher-level knowledge that is distributed across many different sources.
- Better steering: Dosu is now more attentive to user-provided descriptions of data sources and offers more opportunities for users to customize their ideal response behavior.
We are eager to get your feedback on the new agent. It is already available within Dosu Knows (sign up here) and we’ll be rolling it out to existing channels on GitHub and Slack over the next two months.
As always, please share any feedback or feature requests! We are here to help.
See you in April.
