May 2025 Dosu Drop - New Agent, Self-Serve Pricing, Fresh Look
Ask not what you can do for your documentation, ask what your documentation can do for you.

Author: Devin Stein | Founder @ Dosu

Well hello there!

We’ve got lots of exciting updates to share this month so let’s get right into it.

We’re rolling out our new Dosu Agent

We’ve re-engineered the Dosu agent to center around fact-based reasoning, and we’re notifying users via email when it becomes available to them as part of our progressive rollout. Now, when Dosu needs to solve a problem, it starts by taking stock of what it already knows. If it has all the information it needs, it can respond immediately. If it doesn’t, Dosu does research to find missing facts and remembers them for next time.

As the knowledge base grows, so does its speed and performance.

Previously, Dosu operated more like traditional agentic systems, meaning every time you ask a question the agent starts from scratch and tries to use tools to figure things out. Now Dosu actually learns facts that it later retains, so when you ask a similar question in the future it already “knows” some of the context - similar to how people learn and retain information.

Other improvements we’ve made include:

  • Big-picture understanding: By using a knowledge-base structured around topics and concepts, Dosu should perform better when answering questions that require higher-level knowledge that is distributed across many different sources.
  • Better steering: Dosu is now more attentive to user-provided descriptions of data  resources and channels, offering more controls for users to customize their ideal response behavior.
  • Improved introspection: You can clearly see what Dosu’s goals were, what assumptions it made, and how it interpreted the sources it’s citing. This visibility means more opportunities to understand the behavior of the Agent and to give actionable feedback when it makes mistakes.

We think you’ll notice a positive difference right away, but we’re always iterating and looking for ways to improve, so that means we need your feedback. When you get access, please leave us a note on our Discord to let the team know what you think about the new and improved Dosu agent.

Self Service Pricing

The Teams plan is now available

If you go to our pricing page today you’ll notice a new Teams plan. This plan includes integrations with modern productivity tools that let teams collaborate and continue to scale with Dosu. Oh, and it comes with unlimited usage, too.

We’re also beefing up the free Community plan for maintainers of Open Source repositories by completely eliminating usage limits for them.

And on the Enterprise plan, of course, we offer enterprise grade features, security and support alongside custom pricing to meet the needs of scaled organizations running Dosu in production.

You can view your organization's plan in the app’s billing page. As always, we really appreciate your feedback, so if you end up upgrading to Teams, please let us know what you think - there’s a link to connect with us via Discord or schedule a call right in the Dosu dashboard.

Fresh Look, New Flow

New website, who dis?

We’ve also refreshed the look, feel and navigation of our website and the Dosu dashboard.

The website now speaks to Dosu’s vision of not only automating knowledge sharing like it does today, but automating knowledge management for engineering teams end-to-end.

Courtesy of our amazing product engineers and designs, you’ll notice lots of delightful little animations and transitions peppered throughout the website and dashboard.

A fresh look for the dashboard.
Channels and Data sources are now located in the settings page.

Feel free to check out the rest of the updated site at https://dosu.dev, and of course try the updated dashboard yourself at https://app.dosu.dev. The dashboard is also where you can give us feedback by clicking the little circular life preserver icon in the bottom left.

Community Spotlight

LangChain's LangGraph is worth checking out if you somehow haven't already.

In case you don’t know, LangChain is a popular framework and platform for building reliable agents – a hard problem that is close to our hearts at Dosu. LangChain provides a suite of tools for LLM abstractions in the LangChain Framework, monitoring and tracing via LangSmith, and agent design in LangGraph.

As an open source project, LangChain is not only one of the most starred repositories of all time with 108k stars and counting, but also has one of the most vibrant communities with over 4k unique contributors across their repositories!

The time commitment for maintaining an open source project as large as LangChain is immense! LangChain has had well over 10k user reported issues, questions, and feature requests. They’ve been able to scale by implementing OSS best practices and investing in support processes and automation (including using Dosu).

We are huge fans of LangChain, their team, their community, and we're grateful they exist! Check them out at https://github.com/langchain-ai

Coming Soon

Our team is hard at work cooking up the next series of improvements, so Dosu can take more off your plate. Our new tagline “You build, Dosu documents” is a north star for where we’re headed.

Knowledge already changes faster than any person has time to write down and maintain. With AI coding agents, knowledge is changing even faster and the tools we have for capturing, maintaining, and sharing knowledge have not kept up. That's why we're building Dosu.

We envision a future where no one has to write and maintain documentation again (unless you want to). Instead, your work is automatically reflected back to your documentation in real time. And, when you need to learn about a feature, find an answer, or troubleshoot an issue, you’ll always know where to look.

We are so glad to have you on this journey with us. And since we’re working towards this vision together, we need your feedback. Are we building Dosu in a way that solves generating, maintaining, and sharing knowledge for you? What are we missing and what could we do better?  If you’d like to chat, please schedule a call with us or hit us up on Discord. We’d love to hear from you.

Until next time!
